The Everyday Robot Project
Exploring robotics innovation at Google X.
Overview
The Everyday Robot Project is an ambitious initiative by Google's moonshot factory, aiming to create humanoid robots capable of performing a wide array of tasks, ultimately revolutionizing how we approach labor and technology's role in our daily lives.
My Role: Robotics Specialist and Cultural Innovator

A glimpse into the robotic workspace where innovation and engineering intersect.
Experiencing Google's Culture Firsthand
Upon joining Google X, I was thrust into a world where radical prototypes and moonshots weren't just encouraged; they were the norm. This vibrant ecosystem, housed in a repurposed shopping mall complete with micro-kitchens and an on-site restaurant, was where I began to understand the true meaning of 'culture' in the tech industry. Here, failures weren't just accepted; they were celebrated as stepping stones to greater innovation.
App Day - Embracing Collaboration and Creativity
App Day epitomized Google's commitment to culture and collaboration. On these days, everyone, from janitors to CEOs, engaged in app development for our robots. This not only fostered cross-functional collaboration but also built informal feedback loops and deepened mutual understanding among all involved.

Technical Contributions and Impact
- Conducting meticulous diagnostics and repairs on the robot fleet.
- Collaborating with engineers across disciplines for root cause analysis and system enhancements.
- Utilizing Linux terminals to manage the fleet, manipulate logs, and update subsystems, bridging Google's sophisticated code stack with a range of hardware components.
- Orchestrating upgrade cycles and managing the retirement of legacy models.

Beyond Engineering - Cultural Engagement
I took an active role in cultural events and initiatives within Google X, even speaking at a Dia De Los Muertos event. These experiences allowed me to connect with Google's leadership and contribute to the organization's vibrant culture.
My family and I after I gave a speech on the impacts of the Gilroy Garlic Festival Shooting in front of 150+ people at the Dia De Muertos cultural event at Google X.
